League of Legends 3 previews new champion select features

This week, Riot Games announced three new league of legends Features planned to be implemented in the hero selection phase where people choose who they want to play with. Different goals are kept in mind for each feature, but Riot hopes they all “effectively upgrade the experience in ways that haven’t been touched on in a while.” The current goal is to have all three features — Champion Select Anonymity, Pick Order Swapping, and Loadout Recommendation — by the end of the year.

The first of these features may be a bit controversial for some players but will likely be a relief to many others. As those who play any Summoner’s Rift game league You’ll know the patterns (especially ranked matches), other players often look up their teammates to see what their allies are good at and champions with a low win rate. This often results in people doing searches to tell their teammates what they should and shouldn’t play with – or worse, it leads to someone banning a hovering hero based on information found when searching for someone – which is Something others don’t take well.

To combat this, Riot plans to make summoner names anonymous and hidden during hero selection.

“We believe the best version of the league is not the one where you use a metagame based on the players in your lobby, weigh who is in a winning or losing streak or playing a different champion, and dodge or pressure others to dodge when your setup doesn’t meet ideal conditions ” said riot. “We are still thinking about implementation details here, but our starting point will likely be to hide all summoner names in Champion Select for Sort Solo/Duo.”

Players of third-party apps may automatically use data from the hero selection stage to show their playmates as well as other stats. Riot specifically mentioned third-party apps, but at this time it’s unclear how this feature will affect these apps.

The other two features require a little less explanation. Pick Order Swapping will do this so teams can easily exchange pick orders without having to trade in the chat who will pick first and discover trades when you are pressed for time. Similar to how it is recommended to build items once the game starts, this new hero selection feature will recommend the use of runes and summoner spells to players based on their chosen hero and role. Riot hopes to help “narrow the gap between players who are comfortable with the rune and Summoner Spell systems and those who are not.”

Exact release dates for these new features have not been announced.
